About Wovensouls
*

The Art of Vanishing Culturescame into my life in the late 1990s
*
The aesthetic, the technical craft and more importantly
the cultural stories of usageembedded within them
held an irresistible appeal.
*

And so I acquired them - one artwork at a time - with the idea of living with them forever.

Over the years the collection grew

and my children grew up surrounded by a visual feast!

*

However, upon turning 50, I realised that these artworks have a much longer life than I.

I am only their temporary custodian.

And I have the responsibility of securing a long healthy life for each.

So the online gallery WOVENSOULS was born.

Through this website I have been passing on some of these beloved timeless treasures to other loving homes.

In the meanwhile I have also begun working on a micro projects to prevent the extinction of textile art traditions in 1 small community. With that maybe, the textile art skill will live for at least one more generation.

*

Art - the type held in traditional antique pieces - has been the world in which I  refresh myself.

The joys that come from studying the details of the artwork during photography or the ethnographic migration fact that I stumble upon as I compare motifs of artworks from unconnected origins or learning about the latest technology as I improve this website  everyday - are joys that won't let me sleep and make me want to rise ever morning and rush to my laptop!

And so I manage all aspects of WOVENSOULS myself.

I enjoy sharing this beauty online and in most part this is a

"SVANTUH SUKHAAYE" endeavour

(sanskrit for fulfillment of the self).
